Aloha! I teach one on one violin, cello, and viola lessons in Maui, Hawaii. I enjoy introducing children as young as 4 years old to the joy and discipline of string study. Training in the Suzuki Method has equipped me to present one concept per lesson, building skills on a firm foundation. This process can be quick if the student is ready to progress, it can also be slow and steady, always going at the pace of the individual student. The enjoyment in music making is the same. Practicing daily is the key. The music that we study is the motivation. Suzuki repertoire starts with Folk Songs building toward a Baroque classical foundation. I add to this a collection of international fiddle tunes, for fun and further skill building. I also emphasize music theory from the earliest study. Community performance is a natural outgrowth of our musical training, as is monthly group lessons. It’s my joy to share my 28 years of private violin instruction experience in Virginia, Minnesota, and now Hawai’i!
